Foreign babysitters

Tuesday, May 18, 2010

When I was about the age of the little girl in the drawing, my parents got me a babysitter who only spoke Taiwanese to me. I don't remember much of those days other than the fact that she had children about my age and we'd take baths together all the time.

Anyway, isn't this a great idea? I mean, think about it, if you're going to hire a babysitter anyway, why not make it a language learning experience for your child at the same time. What a great application of CLAP!

Of course, I plan to have children, and I also plan to do the same with them. I'm thinking about going with Spanish, because I think it will become a tremendously important business language by the time my children enter the workforce. I guess we'll see...

ちょっと違うけど、ちょうど昨日、「Spanglish」を観てたんだ。外国人のお手伝いさんを雇うのは、コドモだけじゃなくて自分の勉強にもなるし(言葉も文化も)いいアイデアだね!

Well old buddy old pal, I have no question today. I'm just a 26 year old guy who has made a decision, and that decision is this: I'm not going to read blogs any more. I figure all the time I spend reading these things could be used to study more French, accomplish other goals, or spend more time with friends and family.

I wanted to drop a final comment though and say good luck with your blog. You're a hip dude, full of class and sass, with a bag full of awesome to spare. I'm motivated by the amount of accomplishments you've achieved at your age, and I want to set out to do something similar, so no more blogs for me.

So best of luck good sir, and maybe I'll walk past you at an international airport someday. If this happens, I will forcefully make you buy me a beer. Asahi Black is always nice.

Take it easy Tets.

-Matt
